Sub-Contractor: KV Johnson Construction
Location: North Geelong VIC

MÜLLER-vibrators. HFV series with variable frequency and amplitude and resonance-free starting and stopping.

Geelong Port is the largest regional port in Victoria and continues to experience stable trade growth.

McConnell Dowell, a world-class Australian based engineering, construction, building and maintenance company was the main contractor for the project. ThyssenKrupp Steelcom supplied the subcontrator KV Johnson, a Muller MS-24 HFV to be used at the Corio Quay in Geelong Port VIC. The requirements for the vibro hammer was to drive dolphin piles which utilized single jaw MS180 (180tonne clamp pressure) weighing 1250kg and and double jaws MS100 (100 tonne per clamp) at 750kg each.

Muller Vibrohammers are well-known for the state of-the-art variable vibrators with resonance-free starting and stopping designed specially for delivering exceptional performance. They allow frequency and amplitude to be matched optimally to the soil conditions.

KV Johnson, marine contractors, has driven 40 of the 700x16x34m dolphin piles to sandy clay medium plasticity, grey fine grained sand with some shells.

The maximum performance of the hammer is guaranteed through the powerful Powerpack MS-A 420V, which has 2x370l/min oil flow by max working pressure of 380 bar. Maximum line pull is 400kN and amplitude at 16.5mm. Vibrator gear oil has cooling and is fully automatic /electronically controlled.

Also this powerpack is environmentally-friendly through its low emission, delivers 740 litres per minute through the double pumps, and hydraulic oil has its own cooling. Additional benefits of this hammer is its ability to be suspended by hydraulic boom crane, therefore reducing the crane hire costs against lattice boom crane. Full electronic control of frequencies enable it to prevent damage to existing buildings where required.
